Nickelodeon Responds to a Generation of Fans With New Programming Block--'The '90s Are All That!' Launching This Fall on TeenNick

Block to Include Nickelodeon Live-Action and Animated Series Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Rocket Power, Clarissa Explains it All and All That

NEW YORK, March 10, 2011 - Nickelodeon will launch a new nighttime programming block this fall on TeenNick called "The '90s Are All That!," featuring a rotating selection of iconic live-action and animated shows from Nickelodeon's 1990s library including All That, Clarissa Explains it All, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Rugrats , Rocket Power , Salute Your Shorts, The Amanda Show and Kenan & Kel. "The '90s Are All That!" has been developed in part as a response to overwhelming demand from fans of Nickelodeon's groundbreaking original series from the 1990s. There are more than 9 million fans of Nickelodeon's '90s programming on Facebook alone.

"There is an entire generation of young people who literally grew up on these great 1990s' series, and many of them have been vocal about wanting to see and experience these shows again," said Keith Dawkins, Senior Vice President, General Manager, Nicktoons and TeenNick. "TeenNick caters to the older segment of the Nick audience, so it's the perfect place to reconnect these shows to their original fans and introduce them to younger viewers for the very first time."

"The '90s Are All That!" will air Monday through Sunday from midnight to 2:00 a.m. (ET), starting fall 2011. The block will feature a rotating line-up of '90s Nick library content, as well as forthcoming acquisitions and feature films from the decade. TeenNick's audience also will have the opportunity to influence the block's line-up by requesting their favorite series and episodes via social media sites set up by the network, including a dedicated Facebook fan site.

Nickelodeon has ranked as the top-rated basic cable network with kids and total viewers for the last 16 years—since 1995, the longest run of its kind.  The 1990s represent Nickelodeon's first major expansion into original programming and content spanning multiple genres—animation, live-action, preschool, game shows, awards shows, feature films, news and pro-social campaigns—across both television and the internet.  The '90s also saw the opening of Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Fla., where the network's sitcoms and game shows were made before moving to Los Angeles, and the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., where today more than 450 episodes of new animation are being produced, the largest amount in the network's entire history.

The network's first three animated series, Ren & Stimpy, Doug and Rugrats, debuted in 1991 and were instant hits, launching a new television era of original programming for kids, as well as creating a pipeline of groundbreaking Nick animation that continues through today's hits like SpongeBob SquarePants, T.U.F.F. Puppy, The Fairly OddParents and Fanboy and Chum Chum.  In addition to becoming the leader in preschool programming first with Blue's Clues and then with Dora the Explorer and Team Umizoomi, Nick's innovations in the world of live-action yielded a score of defining hits from the '90s–like All That, Clarissa Explains It All, The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Salute Your Shorts—to today's iCarly, Victorious and Big Time Rush. Nickelodeon's stars from the '90s to now have also gone on to have major entertainment careers, with a roll call of names including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Mike O'Malley, Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, Drake Bell, Josh Peck and the members of Big Time Rush, among many others.

Nickelodeon, now in its 31st year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, online, recreation, books and feature films. Nickelodeon's U.S. television network is seen in more than 100 million households and has been the number-one-rated basic cable network for 16 consecutive years. It\'s really about time that TeenNick went back to airing some of these shows. In related news, Nickelodeon has also reached some sort of deal with Shout! Factory (http://www.shoutfactory.com) to release past Nick shows on DVD. So far, only The Wild Thornberrys (http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Wild-Thornberrys-Season-1/15029) and Rocko\'s Modern Life (http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Rockos-Modern-Life-Season-1-Box-Art/15126) have been announced, but this seems to be a multi-title deal, so hopefully this bodes well for other older Nick shows.

Personally, I can\'t wait for this programming block. I will defintely be staying up to catch Clarissa Explains It All. I love Melissa Joan Hart.

I think the regular slot will be 10pm and  4am with some airings on weekends. It\'s hard to tell since only one week is up.

Freaks and Geeks moves to Saturdays at 2am and 3am, Buffy moves to Saturdays at 4am and 5am, Undeclared moves to Sundays at 4am and 4:30am.

Why is TN changing their schedule every week? Are their ratings that bad?

I don\'t think it\'s every week, it\'s just that it launches next week in the 12am slot, and then the following it moves again because of the 90\'s block. I don\'t know what\'s after that since only Nickelodeon and Nicktoons goes into August right now.

August has been posted, in addition to the 10pm airings, it also gets Friday nights between 8pm - 10pm.

Also, the 90\'s block has the same schedule all month, although that might change because the schedule is still generic. (It has Arcade Fire at 10pm every Friday even though other concerts have already been promoted)

TeenNick Answers Fan Demand With "The \'90s Are All That" TV Block and Digital Destinations, Launching July 25

Two-Hour Weeknight Block of the Best of Nickelodeon from the \'90s Bows Simultaneously with Fan-Driven Social Media Components

NEW YORK, July 19, 2011 - The decade of orange soda, Vital Information, and "Killer Tofu" is back and  coming to TeenNick! Next week, TeenNick launches "The \'90s Are All That" a two-hour, weeknight programming block featuring some of Nickelodeon\'s iconic \'90s hits--complete with deeply integrated, fan-driven social media components on Facebook (//www.facebook.com/90sAreAllThat) and at //www.90sAreAllThat.com.  Sparked by rising demand via the internet and social media platforms from young adults who grew up with Nickelodeon in the 1990s, TeenNick has curated the block and its accompanying online content with the fans\' specific requests in mind.

"The 90s Are All That"\'s rotating line-up will debut Monday, July 25, at 12 a.m. (ET) with All That, Kenan and Kel, Clarissa Explains It All and Doug.   The block will air on TeenNick Monday-Friday from 12-2 a.m. (ET) and will replay from 2-4 a.m. (ET). Through //www.facebook.com/90sAreAllThat and at //www.90sAreAllThat.com, viewers can reminisce and share their favorite TV memories, watch full episodes, enter sweepstakes to win \'90s-based Nick products, access exclusive clips, photos, polls and more.

"For anyone between 18 and 34, mention Nickelodeon and the 1990s and it\'s an instant trip down memory lane," said Keith Dawkins, Senior Vice President, General Manager, TeenNick and Nicktoons. "These shows make up the pop culture DNA of an entire generation of young adults, and so we created \'The 90s Are All That\' just for them. There are 15 million Facebook fans of \'90s Nick programming, and they\'ve been very vocal about wanting to see these shows again. We are bringing them back in an exciting new way and now they\'ll be able to enjoy and share them with their friends, just like they used to."

At launch, "The \'90s Are All That" will feature four of Nickelodeon\'s most iconic shows, including:

    All That , a sketch-comedy series with colorful characters like Mavis and Clavis, a couple of cantankerous old men; Earboy, a teen cursed with enormous ears; and Super Dude, a lactose-intolerant superhero;
    Kenan & Kel , a buddy comedy starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell who end up in one wild predicament after another;
    Clarissa Explains It All , a live-action sitcom that followed a teenaged girl (Melissa Joan Hart) who breaks through the fourth wall to talk to the kids at home about her likes, dislikes, thoughts and plans;
and Doug , an animated series about the adventures of Doug Funnie, an 11-and-a-1/2-year-old boy who dreams of superheroes and is accompanied by his canine pal Porkchop, his best friend Skeeter and his secret love, Patti Mayonnaise.

The rich online components to "The \'90s Are All That" on //www.facebook.com/90sAreAllThat and at //www.90sAreAllThat.com will give fans access to exclusive pictures and video content, including select clips and full episodes of the block\'s shows. The online content will be refreshed every week and will showcase video and images from various \'90s Nick shows that will be added later to the on-air block. Users will also be able to interact with one another and continue to influence the on-air and online experience with their point of view.  Fans will also be able to enter sweepstakes to win \'90s-based Nick products. Additionally, in real time with the block\'s 12-2 a.m. (ET) airing, the sites\' video player will turn into a photo gallery featuring a Tumblr feed of user-generated images of and inspired by 90s Nick programming.  Later this year, fans will be able to vote for shows from Nick\'s \'90s archives that they want added to the on-air line-up.

Ugh.. I don\'t want to be Debbie Downer but I\'m not getting excited over this block because I don\'t trust TeenNick to commit to it. Look, Buffy, F&G and Undeclared were only on the network for a little over a month and they\'re already being relegated to weekend late nights. They brought back Saved by the Bell and that didn\'t last long either. Seems there\'s no room on this network but crappy recent Nick shows like H20 and Zoey.

It already is starting on a low note kind of, Clarissa is starting at a random season 2 episode instead of season 1 (although that\'s most likely because that was the beginning of the two break era, while season 1 was when Nickelodeon only had one break during a show). All That is also starting with the season 2 premiere. Kenan and Kel just had a run on TeenNick about 2 years ago. Thankfully Doug is one of the few Nicktoons that hasn\'t had recent rotation on Nicktoons (most likely because they\'re still bitter about Brand Spanking New Doug). Hopefully the block doesn\'t end up being full of shows that still air on Nicktoons, heck CatDog, Rocko, Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy air in the same timeslot on a block that their programming department identifies as "retro" on the generic grids, lol.

As for H2O, I have no idea what is up with that show, Nickelodeon stopped halfway into season 2, yet the promo TeenNick airs features footage from the season finale, the press contact is clueless on why too. I gave up on them ages ago and watched the rest of the show on Netflix where it is true widescreen not that non-centered letterboxing Nickelodeon was doing with it and Zoey 101 at the time so they could squeeze in more banners below the show, lol.

Too bad the odds are they\'re going to listen to the people who don\'t bother to check their EPGs to see that Rugrats has been airing nonstop on Nicktoons, or first started watching The N/TeenNick within the past 5 years or so.

I want some stuff that never aired on The N, Nick GAS or Nicktoons. Like Weinerville, Welcome Freshmen and Roundhouse. Stuff that actually hasn\'t AIRED since the 90s.

TeenNick Fuels Fan Frenzy for "The \'90s Are All That" with Addition of Hey Arnold! and Rocko\'s Modern Life
Two More Classic Nick Hits Join Two-Hour Weeknight Block Beginning Sept. 5

NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TeenNick stokes fan demand for more \'90s shows with the addition of two new series to the network\'s buzzworthy "The \'90s Are All That" two-hour programming block.  The new lineup of iconic Nickelodeon \'90s shows kicks off Monday, Sept. 5, with back-to back episodes of the popular animated series Rocko\'s Modern Life and Hey Arnold! at 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., respectively (all times ET).  Added by viewers\' request, Rocko and Hey Arnold! will regularly join All That and Kenan & Kel starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the block\'s 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. timeslots.  The block also features deeply integrated, fan-driven social media components on Facebook (//www.facebook.com/90sAreAllThat) and at //www.90sAreAllThat.com.  "The \'90s Are All That" airs Monday-Friday 12-2 a.m. with replays 2-4 a.m. on TeenNick.

Rocko\'s Modern Life, an animated series that offers a satirical view on everyday living for an Australian-born wallaby named Rocko, originally ran for 11 years on Nickelodeon.  It is further distinguished as the show where future SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg first met voice actor Tom Kenny (voice of Heffer), who would later become the inspiration for SpongeBob and create the character\'s inimitable voice.  With its off-kilter humor and a theme song performed by the B52\'s, the series follows Rocko who explores his new life in the city of O-Town and his friendships with a gluttonous steer Heffer (Kenny); a neurotic turtle Filburt (Mr. Lawrence, voice of Plankton on SpongeBob SquarePants); and Rocko\'s faithful dog, Spunky.

One of the cornerstone animated series in Nickelodeon\'s successful launch into prime-time in 1996, Hey Arnold! focuses on the daily life of Arnold--a fourth-grader with a wild imagination, street smarts and a head shaped like a football.  Created by Craig Bartlett, who came to Nickelodeon as a story editor for the network\'s hit animated series Rugrats, and later as a director for The Ren & Stimpy Show , Hey Arnold! is set in a world of subways and sandlot baseball, of bus stops and rooftops and presents a fresh look at life in the big city as seen from a kids\' point of view.  Arnold has been an important character in the Nickelodeon family and is part of the Nickelodeon legacy of popular, original animation.

Nickelodeon has ranked as the top-rated basic cable network with kids and total viewers for the last 16 years—since 1995, the longest run of its kind.  The 1990s represent Nickelodeon\'s first major expansion into original programming and content spanning multiple genres—animation, live-action, preschool, game shows, awards shows, feature films, news and pro-social campaigns—across both television and the internet.  The \'90s also saw the opening of Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Fla., where the network\'s sitcoms and game shows were made before moving to Los Angeles; and the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., where today more than 450 episodes of new animation are being produced, the largest amount in the network\'s history.

So much for Clarissa\'s return. It appears 1am is going to be a two week rotation:

Week of 10/3 and 10/10: Hey Dude
Week of 10/17 and 10/24: The Amanda Show
Week of 10/31: Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Doug keeps 1:30am

Hey Dude starts with the 1st episode, so it\'s 1989 is All That ;)

(Still no sign of a Degrassi marathon that indicates a return)

There\'s apparently one Degrassi episode in October (tied in with Halloween, but not a Halloween episode, apparently) and then they\'ll return after the new year. Filming got pushed back a few months because they were filming that new Epitome show with Cassie Steele & company.

I\'ve never seen Are You Afraid of the Dark?, so I\'m looking forward to that.

Clarissa continues its run this week.

Amanda Show still gets its two weeks and Are You Afraid of the Dark still gets the week of the 31st.

Let\'s just say, if you voted for U Pick after yesterday you wasted your time.

On a side note I have two conflicting schedules right now, so take this with a grain of salt. One entry has the regular Malcolm at 10pm and What I Like about You at 11pm followed by one U Pick result at 12am and blank slots the rest of the block. The other one has Full House at 10:30pm - 12am and then a generic "U Pick" block.

They are still updating the grids so I\'ll probably have a better idea later today

Edit:
The one with the U Pick result and blanks now has Full House too.

And now the entire schedule is revamped. Starting Friday the block is airing 7 nights a week and will air from 10pm - 2am

U Pick is on at 10pm and 12am Fridays

Saturday\'s and Sunday\'s mirror the weekday schedule.

Starting Saturday Hey Dude has Clarissa\'s slot.

Degrassi reruns air at 2am
Malcolm in the Middle moves to 3am

Hey Dude and The Return of Stick Stickly Take TeenNick\'s "The \'90s Are All That" Into Prime-Time

Two-Hour Block Moves to 10 p.m. (ET), Expands to Weekends Beginning Oct. 7

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2011 -- TeenNick super-serves \'90s Nick fans with even more of what they want as "The \'90s Are All That" programming block moves into prime-time, seven days a week, with an updated lineup to include the much-requested Hey Dude.  The block also features a brand-new interactive segment, "UPick with Stick," hosted by the most famous popsicle stick from the \'90s ever, Stick Stickly.

The rotating block of iconic Nickelodeon \'90s shows will kick off its new 10 p.m. - 12 a.m. (all times Eastern) time slot on Friday, Oct. 7, with the inaugural viewer-voted "UPick with Stick" lineup.  Every Friday night, "UPick with Stick" will be hosted by Stick Stickly, featuring the original voice actor in the role, Paul Christie.  "UPick with Stick" will feature \'90s Nickelodeon episodes chosen by viewers via Facebook (//www.facebook.com/90sAreAllThat) and //www.90sAreAllThat.com.  Hey Dude joins "The \'90s Are All That" block on Saturday, Oct. 8, along with All That, Kenan & Kel and Doug, with replays 12-2 a.m. on TeenNick.  "The \'90s Are All That" on TeenNick has scored huge gains for the net, posting double-digit increases over last year with A18-34 (+50%) in the time period.

Hey Dude aired from 1989 to 1991 and was one of Nickelodeon\'s first original live-action series.  Hey Dude was shot on location in Tucson, Ariz., and centered on a colorful group of teenage staffers working at the Bar None western dude ranch.  Whether recapturing prize stallions, rescuing guests from perilous situations or dealing with everyday growing pains, the teens were continually facing new challenges.  The ranch is owned by Mr. Ernst (David Brisbin), a sometimes-too-enthusiastic, but well meaning boss.  Crew members on the ranch included: Ted (David Lascher), the handsome schemer; sweet Melody (Christine Taylor), the lifeguard; Brad (Kelly Brown), the self-absorbed riding instructor and earnest Danny (Joe Torres).

Nickelodeon has ranked as the top-rated basic cable network with kids and total viewers for the last 16 years -- since 1995, the longest run of its kind.  The 1990s represent Nickelodeon\'s first major expansion into original programming and content spanning multiple genres -- animation, live-action, preschool, game shows, awards shows, feature films, news and pro-social campaigns -- across both television and the internet.

With Nickelodeon\'s first foray into original programming in 1991 -- the animated hit series Ren & Stimpy, Doug and Rugrats -- the network launched a new television era of original programming for kids, as well as creating a pipeline of groundbreaking animation that continues through today.  Nick\'s innovations in the world of live-action have also yielded a score of defining hits, ranging from the 1990s\' All That and Clarissa Explains It All, to today\'s iCarly , Victorious and Big Time Rush .  Nickelodeon\'s stars from the \'90s to now have also gone on to have major entertainment careers, with a roll call of names including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Mike O\'Malley, Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, Drake Bell, Josh Peck and the members of Big Time Rush, among many others.

They modified the episodes for next week to account for the run continuing on weekends.

As of now they didn\'t update the following week so I don\'t know yet if The Amanda Show and Are You Afraid of the Dark are still going to air as scheduled, but Hey Dude has the the Saturday and Sunday slots next week.

They updated the rest of the month, as of now Hey Dude continues indefinitely, no sign of Are You Afraid of the Dark, although knowing them that will change, and they\'ll tell us the day before it begins, lol.

As for The Amanda Show, it is getting the 6am and 2pm slots everyday starting Tuesday. Unfabulous also returns weekdays at 1pm. Victorious and Big Time Rush also join the daily schedule.

Buffy, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, and H2O are gone.

They still don\'t have the full listing up just 4 hour long blocks for some reason (which is why last week the only thing in the listings was a 2 hour block of Legends)

But this week\'s results include:
Rocket Power "Shark Bait/A Shot In The Park"
Rugrats "Naked Tommy/Tommy and the Secret Club"

On a side note, despite them saying you can vote as often as you want, the raw json code for the vote displays "ineligible to vote" after the first vote, lol

On another note, the ratings for these are going to be TV-Y which will be hilarious if Stick Stickley does something else adult again this week like talking about searching for Angry Beaver online ;)

Episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark will be the choices for U Pick on October 28th.

The runs of the shows on October 24 - 31st will be interrupted for Halloween/horror themed episodes.

The results for this friday include:
All That "Good Burger special"
Doug "Doug Throws A Party/Doug Way Out West"

Instead of all Are You Afraid of the Dark, the choices for the 28th are going to be halloween episodes of other shows.

On a side note, still no sign of Nowhere to Run, however there\'s an all day marathon of Degrassi on 11/6 and 11/7

I\'m awaiting further confirmation, (to make sure it isn\'t a case of a pending lineup change like before where an old generic lineup was listed for a day or two), but it appears the block is moving back to 12am - 4am starting Monday.

Edit: It\'s official Degrassi gets 10pm, Malcolm gets 11pm, 90\'s are All that moves to 12am - 4am.

For those of you who never heard of Cry Baby Lane, let's just say there's a reason why Nickelodeon never aired it again after its initial debut in 2000

This week they updated the epg grids with actual titles and start times instead of a generic block of U Pick, if you haven\'t seen it yet:

12:00am The Secret World of Alex Mack "The Video Tape"
12:32am The Wild Thornberries "Pack of Thornberrys"
1:05am Salute Your Shorts "Telly & The Basketball Team"
1:36am Hey Arnold "The Longest Monday/Eugene\'s Pet"
2:06am The Secret World of Alex Mack "The Video Tape"
2:39am The Wild Thornberries "Pack of Thornberrys"
3:12am Salute Your Shorts "Telly & The Basketball Team"
3:42am Hey Arnold "The Longest Monday/Eugene\'s Pet"

I wouldn\'t trust the runtimes for the repeat block though, somehow they plan to show the second airing of Hey Arnold in 18 minutes with Degrassi starting at 4am.

On a side note, for some reason they listed tonight\'s airing of "Degrassi in India" as a Degrassi episode tonight at 8pm, instead of a seperate special like all previous airings have been listed, so some EPG providers incorrectly marked it as a "new episode", if you have a season pass for Degrassi it might be recorded. Also, there will be an all day marathon of "Now or Never" the day Nowhere to Run premieres. So much for August being the last chance to see it ;)

Apparantly it didn\'t reach all the EPG providers yet, but Full House is now part of the lineup weekday mornings at 6am and nights at 5am starting Today. The Amanda Show is still on for two hours at 2pm and Malcolm still has 11pm.

The choices for next week are even worse, not only are they all shows that are part of the regular lineup, they even include (a) an episode of Hey Dude that JUST aired Wednesday night and (b) an episode of All That which already won U Pick about a month ago
Title: Is Friend\'s part of the lineup?
Post by: tvfanatic86 on November 15, 2011, 09:50:32 AM
Hi!

I came across your posts on the lineups and got excited that full house is showing everyday!  It\'s weird to see my shows on nick, I feel like I\'m getting old  :(.  Am I wrong, or did Friends recently get picked up by nick as well?  I hadn\'t seen it before, but I just switched to dish tv los angeles (http://www.dishactivations.com/) and noticed it on my tv menu.  It\'s exciting because I\'m a friends fanatic! But again, it makes me feel like I\'m getting old.  Oh well, I guess at least their keeping the show lineup fresh!

Next week is all Marathons:
Monday: Salute Your Shorts
Tuesday: Rugrats
Wednesday: Kenan & Kel
Thursday: All That, with an hour called "90s Are All That Fansgiving" at 3am
Friday: Hey Arnold!
Saturday: Kenan & Kel
Sunday: All That, with an hour called "90s Are All That Fansgiving" at 3am

As of now the regular schedule returns the following week and yet again they don\'t compensate for this week in the respective runs. (So Kyle\'s debut episode and the first 6 episodes of Season 4 of Hey Dude are skipped)

Knowing Nick's track record, they'll probably change it by the time it comes around, but as of now they have week long strip of marathons:

12/24 Rugrats
12/25 Hey Arnold!
12/26 Doug
12/27 All That
12/28 Rugrats
12/29 Kenan & Kel
12/30 Clarissa Explains it All

The following week has a week long Rugrats marathon and then a week long Hey Arnold marathon.

Starting next week:
Mondays - Rugrats
Tuesdays - Hey Arnold!
Wednesdays - Doug
Thursdays - Rugrats
Fridays - Rocko's Modern Life
Saturdays - The Ren & Stimpy Show
Sundays - The Angry Beavers

So basically, Nicktoons's old late night lineup that fans of these shows ignored for years until they decided to come out of hiding when the 90s Are All That debuted, flooding the facebook page with requests for shows that at the time were still airing on Nicktoons.

Hey Arnold x2
Clarissa x2

Tuesday:
Rugrats x2
Rocko x2

Wednesday:
Kenan & Kel x2
Salute Your Shorts x2

Thursday:
Hey Arnold x2
Rugrats x2

The Angry Beavers
Hey Arnold!
Rocko's Modern Life

Saturdays
Kenan & Kel x2
CatDog x2

Sundays
All That x2
CatDog x2

Week of 12/30 3 episodes of Kenan and Kel followed by alternating AAAHH! Real Monsters and Rocket Power
Week of 1/6 3 episodes of Rugrats followed by alternating Salute Your Shorts and Hey Dude
