DEGRASSI Season 11 premieres Monday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET

Toronto, ON (July 14, 2011) – Just as the bell is about to ring on a new season, DEGRASSI received its first-ever nomination for a Primetime Emmy this morning. The groundbreaking series, produced by Toronto's Epitome Pictures in association with MuchMusic and TeenNick, is nominated for Outstanding Children's Program. The nomination comes on the heels of DEGRASSI being honoured with the prestigious Peabody Award earlier this year. THE 63RD ANNUAL PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS airs live, Sunday, September 18, exclusively on CTV.

"DEGRASSI is an iconic brand that has resonated with audiences for decades," said Neil Staite, Vice-President and General Manager, Music and Entertainment, Bell Media. "This well deserved Emmy nomination and the series' recent accolades are a testament to that. We are so proud to have this brand associated with Much."

"What an amazing honour for our entire DEGRASSI team! They work so passionately every day," says Executive Producer Linda Schuyler, Epitome Pictures. "This nomination reinforces our dedication to continuing to produce relevant programming for young people. I couldn't be more proud!"

DEGRASSI's 11th season returns this coming Monday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively in Canada on MuchMusic. Returning in the popular telenovella-style format, new episodes of DEGRASSI air weeknights, Monday-Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, through Thursday, September 1 on Much, MuchHD, and MuchMusic.com.

For those who were wondering, it was "My Body is a Cage, Part 2" that was nominated. Adam being revealed as a Transgender's competition...iCarly's bedroom goes on Fire, Wizards vs Angels, Freak the Freak Out and something called "A Child's Garden Of Poetry" on HBO. I'd say Degrassi has a good chance of winning this one, lol.
