In 2012 Disney will replace SOAPnet with a new preschool channel called "Disney Junior", which will be the new branding for Playhouse Disney blocks and channels worldwide beginning in 2011.

February 2012 Update: SOAPnet is NOT dead, the bulk of the affiliates didn't want to give up an ad supported network that they can sell local ads for in favor of a commercial free kids network. Most cable companies are keeping both, however Comcast was basically first in line to drop it in favor of Disney Junior.
